This course takes a practical perspective on how to build for-profit, not-for-profit private or public private partnership (PPP) entities with a strategic perspective on social change. For centuries, thinkers like William Petty (1623-1687), Adam Smith (1723-1790), and John Stuart Mill (1806-1873) argued for the large-scale provision of public goods.
This course takes a strategic perspective on social change. It asks how emerging leaders - social entrepreneurs and strategic philanthropists - can stimulate systemic change through local interventions and collaboration. The course was developed and taught by Maximilian Martin in the IOMBA program for the 2008 fall semester.
